Ways You as a Parent Can help Your Child become Stronger
Help your son or daughter become a stronger player and a stronger person. Here are a few keys ways to build strength.
Don’t fight their battles. Require your children to meet with their teachers or coaches. Role play what needs to be navigated. Give them tools to do this well. You will do them a tremendous disservice if you do not equip your kids to handle situations that make them feel uncomfortable.
For discipline, consider workout options instead of giving time outs. Time outs are not very practical when you are in a store or on a schedule. Having your child do a few appropriate exercises instead burns restless energy, boosts mood and builds a stronger mind and body.
Model strength. Parents who demonstrate strength to their children finish what they say they'll finish. They speak well of others and do not whine about or criticize others. They are willing to admit mistakes and take responsibility. They handle stressful situations with peace and wisdom. They are calm under pressure.
Balance power with love. Sometimes, a dad who is really tough can raise a son who is afraid. If you only parent from power without love, kids can be raised in a home feeling afraid and not able to have their own power. If a parent only operates from a stance of love without power or strength, the parenting can be anemic and weak. Consequently, the kids are raised without healthy boundaries. A balance of love and power brings maturity and well-being to parenting and the home.
