Help your kids catch on fire for life
Take a good look at your kids. Are they on fire for things that matter in life? Energy is a barometer of health.
Where is the energy of your kids going? If it going to a source that is life-draining, remove the source.
What is the quality of your energy? If you have no energy to parent, you will have a dead or troubled home. Find out why you don’t have energy for your most important life task—the opportunity to build into the life of another human being.
Energy is finite and it doesn’t matter how much you try and light a fire, if the conditions are poor, there will be no flame.
You need oxygen – encouragement in the home is oxygen. You start a fire with oxygen.
Optimal conditions help with igniting a fire—hearts that are ready to catch on fire. A heart ready to catch on fire is free from bitterness, fear, anger, addiction.
Tools help you to catch on fire. Words, slogans, goals, routines, and mentors are all tools to help you ignite your family. Invest in good tools such as great teachers, camps, games, and teaching tools.
A stone with the word peace engraved on it can trigger a reminder to live with less stress. A picture of a Rwandan woman who forgave her children’s murderer can inspire us to be more forgiving. Place photos, words, messages, videos, books, music, in positions that cause you to pause and reflect. These small pauses can ignite a renewed determination on how you want to live.
Parenting kids who catch on fire for what matters most in life requires us to catch on fire for life. The best example for your kids will be your own passion and love.
