Coaches are listed as some of the most inspirational people on the planet. They can also be listed as some of the most discouraging.

What would your players say about you?

An inspiring coach is one that can see what an athlete is capable of achieving and can communicate specific ways this athlete can achieve that potential. Research reveals how a coach “believes” in an athlete through words and through their support are the greatest inspiration to athletes.

Here are a few questions to consider:

• Do your athletes feel you believe in them?
• What does belief in an athlete mean to you?
• Do you know how to help an athlete see what they can become?
• Are you able to “see” potential?
• If you don’t see potential, do you recognize the gravity of this lack of sight?
• Is it possible to see potential in every athlete?
