For more detailed information pertaining to our coaching philosophy and curriculum visit the sport specific pages, basketball, volleyball, soccer. Back to General FAQ
Does the teaching curriculum change from site to site?
Our teaching curriculum is carefully designed for each camp. If you attend a camp in Alaska you will receive the same training as if you attended our camp in Oregon. All of our curriculum is outlined by our leadership team. This curriculum is broken down into daily lesson plans for our Master Teachers who have all been trained through our staff mentoring program to provide consistency between camps. Every Master Teacher is a gifted coach who will love and instruct your kids. Back to General FAQ
Are the campers placed into groups based on age or ability?
Both. Master Teachers divide campers into groups based on age first. Then campers are evaluated by the staff as they go through a series of skill testing drills. Campers who would clearly benefit from being moved to a higher group will be asked if they would like to move. Campers who were not selected, but feel they would benefit from moving to a higher group can request further evaluation from the Master Teacher. NBC Camps always tries to honor the requests of the camper while maintaining what is best for the group.Back to General FAQ
What are policies on medications?
We have trainers at each site. We urge the parent and camper to talk with the trainers if there are any preexisting conditions that you are concerned about. It is our policy that trainers keep all medication and monitor dispensing for your child's safety. Back to General FAQ
What do I do if I get homesick?
First of all, we strongly suggest you do all you can to come to camp with a friend . Having a familiar roommate and friend greatly reduces the likelihood of homesickness. We also strongly recommend our extended day camp for those who may have homesickness inclinations. At NBC Camps we believe the more you overcome your fears, the more courageous you will be. Therefore, we encourage campers to work through their homesickness through positive thinking, keeping active, developing friendships, and talking with staff. If the camper's homesickness becomes too disruptive, the trainer and/or site director will contact the parents. In rare cases, a child may be sent home at the parents' expense. Every effort will be made to support and encourage the camper to complete his or her week at camp. Pay phones are available at every site. Back to General FAQ
