COMPLETE SKILLS BASKETBALL
TRAINING CAMPS Complete Skills basketball
camps are our standard and most popular basketball camps. We've been hosting
Complete Skills Training Camps since 1971. Over 50,000 athletes have attended
for the last three years. Our coaches emphasize solid fundamental basketball
skills taught using the latest cutting edge techniques. We design exciting live-action
drills to maximize training and keep athletes challenged.
About Complete
Skills Camps
Complete Skills Basketball
Camps provide a perfect opportunity for players to improve in all areas of the game. This camp
is beneficial for beginners as well as advanced players. Campers are divided
into leagues based on both age and skill level.
In addition to individual
skills training, we start the week teaching fundamentals related to 3-on-3
basketball. This helps break the game down and makes team basketball easy
to learn for the younger athlete and allows greater opportunity to put new skills in a live environment for all ability levels. It also allows every player the opportunity to touch the ball
more regularly during competition allowing the strong player great leadership training and the weaker player the ability to get better. Throughout the week we progress into
5-on-5 play and typically finish the week with a 4-6 team tournament.
Part of the difference at NBC Camps includes a five day camp experience including detailed curriculum training from ball handling, to pure defense, pure shooting, pure offense and pure team skills.
Our camps are demanding and not similar to other camp experiences. The difference is our basketball intensity, expectation on and off the court for excellence, leadership and sports training currriculum. We believe training the mind to compete is crucial to becoming a great athlete. We believe sitting and watching the staff play is not as valuable as learning the skills yourself. If you want to sit and watch basketball, if you want limited supervision, if you want a baby sitting camp, you need to pick a different program. But if you want to really get better at the game of basketball we are going to make you better.
A highlight of camp
is definitely the Intensity Station. Music, sweat, encouragement, and
hard work make up this hour long power workout that helps athletes discover
their limits and push through them.

Dispelling the Myths of Summer Camps
Myth #1 Day camps
and overnight camps are equal.
We believe an overnight camp is the optimum place for players to experience maximum growth and change. When we are removed from our day-to-day environment
and placed in an unknown situation, we become sponges of experience. Our
senses are heightened and our ability to learn is expanded.
Myth #2 Camp environment
is not important.
By environment we mean the atmosphere of the camp, the way people speak
to each other, the quality of relationships between the coaches and the
campers. At NBC Camp, we believe environment is a crucial component of
becoming the best player you can be. You can technically be the best shooter
in the world but if you have no self-confidence you can never be a great
shooter. Confidence becomes permanent in an environment where people encourage,
support, and care about you. That's why some of the best players in the
game are children of coaches. They had the experience of playing in an
environment that balanced the tough line between love and high expectations. Especially when learning new skills, athletes must find environments
that build them up, not tear them down.
Myth #3 If you coach,
you can run a camp.
Coaching 12 players and coaching 50 to 60 are very different propositions.
The camp setting requires knowledge on how to utilize space,
how to maximize time, and how to progress through skills in
a way athletes retain and continue their development. A systematic
learning system and the philosophy behind this progression
of drills and live action has been a teaching priority of
NBC Camps for 35 years.
Myth #4 I should wait
until my son or daughter is older before sending them to camp.
It takes 20 to 30 repetitions to learn a new skill. It takes 2500-3000
repetitions to fix a skill learned incorrectly. It's worth the time and
money to learn it right the first time.
Myth #5 Teaching life skills is a waste.
What's more important, your physical skills or your mental
skills? Tough-mindedness, courage, confidence, conviction,
character, are all skills requiring training and intentional
pursuit. You can practice left-hand lay-ups all day, but until
you develop the winner's mindset, you'll fold under pressure.
When you are tough-minded, putting in the long hours to become
a great player becomes joy instead of drudgery.
Myth #6 Playing games all summer improves your game.
Games do not give you the major changes in your game. Programs and coaches who spend all summer playing games make a mistake because athletes are not spending the individual time working on their skills. Basketball skills are improved individually during the off-season. Professional athletes who determine they need adjustment in their game, get by themselves and work specifically on skill development and improvement. Games only expose what you already know, they can't correct bad habits, nor take your skills to the next level. Only specific intentional skill training can do that for you.

"NBC CAMPS has done a great job of setting themselves apart from their competition. I don’t think anyone would disagree that they give their campers not only great basketball
instruction, but also an unforgettable EXPERIENCE.
Their evening programs and summer themes are life-changing. My amazing parents will tell you that they consider NBC Camps to be one of the best investments they ever made in my life."
-Mike Nilson, Former Gonzaga Elite 8, WCC defensive player of the year, European Pro
" When Jacob, our oldest son was 9 years old my wife and I made a challenging decision. We put Jacob on an airplane by himself from Seattle to Spokane. We trusted the people at NBC Camps to take care of our son.
Looking back over these past 15 years, my wife and I can say without reservation that NBC Camps has been the single best investment in the lives of our three children Jacob, Megan, and Jonnie. We believe the success of raising healthy and productive children requires partnering with quality people and organizations like NBC Camps. We have not found any other organization that matches NBC Camps dedication to partnering with parents to help our children win in the game of life."
-Frank Washburn, High School Principal
"My name is Angela and I am a professional basketball coach in Rome. My passion is basketball. At one point, my desire was to be one of Italy’s best players. The highlight of my career was when Italy defeated the USA in the 1993 World Games. I have played basketball at the highest level and I have experienced many great learning opportunities. Today my motivation is to coach Italy’s Olympic team. When I saw NBC Camps for the first time, I knew this would be a great opportunity for me to learn more about coaching basketball, especially the technical and motivational aspects of the game. This past summer I spent 10 days in the United States at Crowell’s Intensity Camp. NBC Camps is fantastic. Being part of NBC Camps is one of the best experiences of my life and I am a better coach for it. NBC Camps will make you a better player, but more importantly, you will be a better person."
